There are 4,000 children in the UK who suffer from multi-sensory impairment (MSI), also referred to as deaf-blindness.
- Sufferers have a combination of visual and hearing difficulties, although most have some sight andor hearing.
- Children can be born with conditions that cause deaf-blindness or can acquire them as they go through childhood from contracting conditions such as meningitis.
- There are two courses for teachers of MSI-impaired children. One is at Birmingham University the other is at Kingston UniversityWhitefield School, London.
