SEX education has little effect on teenagers’ behaviour, according to two new studies in the latest edition of the British Medical Journal. A programme of lessons aimed at 13 to 15-year-olds in Scotland did not increase their use of contraceptives or reduce sexual risk-taking any more than conventional sex education. Meanwhile, research in Canada and America found projects aimed at reducing unwanted pregnancies for 11 to 18-year-olds did not delay sexual intercourse, improve birth control or reduce pregnancies.
