The event, aimed at schoolteachers, attracted 2,400 visitors last year. This year it is extended to nursery and further education and the organisers hope for an even larger turnout. Entry is free. It is organised by Learning and Teaching Scotland, the Scottish Executive and the National Grid for Learning Scotland, and is sponsored by TES Scotland.
Five lectures and 72 seminars will cover the benefits of information and communications technology in education. There will be sessions on broadband technology and what it will do for schools, online learning projects with primary classes demonstrating Virtual Oil Spill, introductions to NGfL websites on early years, 5-14, schools online and a new site on national qualifications, which is being launched at the show.
The exhibition, run by Emap Education, organisers of the London BETT show, is expected to feature 80-90 firms, including all the main computer manufacturers, online curriculum services, interactive whiteboards and digital technologies.
Late opening on the first day will allow staff who cannot get away from school to attend up till 7pm.
