As an exasperated teacher leading a group on an Outward Bound trip to the Lake District told parents at a Glasgow secondary last week: “Your kids will be fed well at the centre. Please don’t send food with them. We had a lad last year with a suitcase which contained pot noodle for every single day of the trip.”
