The hunt for Britain’s best young photographers is underway once again.
Returning for the fourth year, Norwich University of the Art’s Beyond the Frame competition encourages young photographers to develop their craft and showcase their talent.
The competition, supported by Tes, has two age categories: 11- to 15-year olds and 16- to 19-year olds. The winners in each age range will receive an EOS M50 camera from one of the competition sponsors, Canon. The shortlisted entries and winners will be shared in an online exhibition in April 2021.
Teacher pay: AoC recommends 1% pay rise - or £250
Exams 2021: What you need to know on vocational exams
Wanted: Britain’s best student photographers
This year’s theme is “Community” and the judging panel includes Tes’ head of FE Julia Belgutay, artists Amit and Naroop, photographer Tessa Bunney, course leader at Norwich University of the Arts James Smith, and fashion photographer Cherie Carman.
James Smith, BA (Hons) Photography Course Leader at NUA, said: “We’re looking forward to receiving this year’s entries.
“The variety of images we’ve received in previous years has been truly stunning. No two entries look the same; each one reflects the entrants’ unique take on the world.
“We were also delighted that a number of last year’s entrants decided to pursue photography further at university. This year’s competition brief - Community - is open to broad interpretation, so it’s a real test of entrants’ creativity.”
The deadline for entries is 4pm on 12 February 2021.
