This week on the Tes News podcast, the team discuss the future of Ofsted inspection and reflect on the final Commons Education Select Committee session on school inspection as MPs questioned some big players in the sector.

MPs heard evidence from the outgoing chief inspector Amanda Spielman and schools minister Nick Gibb, as he set out why he supports the current one-word grade system.

However, with Labour committed to consulting on scrapping single-word Ofsted grades and replacing this with a scorecard, and a general election approaching next year, the need to look at what an alternative system might look like is becoming more pressing.
