IF The TES awarded a medal for bravery at the NUT conference there would be little doubt about this year’s winner. Bhasker Bhadresha a teacher from Redbridge in north-east London, told delegates that he was entering his son for his 11-plus exam. “The reason for this is that comprehensive education does not work,” he said. He only partially redeemed himself by blaming national tests and the NUT leadership for its inaction in trying to abolish them.
