14% rise for LEA staff

LOCAL authority school improvement staff will receive pay rises of up to 14 per cent over the next year in a town hall version of performance-related pay. The increases could take the salary of an adviser with eight years’ experience from pound;37,272 to pound;41,703, and of a principal adviser wih 15 years’ service from pound;39,783 to pound;44,429. The deal means 5,500 advisers, educational psychologists, and youth and community education officers will get a basic 6 to 7 per cent pay rise from September, and access to bonuses of up to pound;2,000 - subject to managers’ assessments.
