Premieres of films made by young people living in and around Cairngorms National Park took place at the weekend.

The Cairngorms Media Project involved pupils from Kingussie High, Grantown Grammar, Speyside High, Aboyne Academy, Alford Academy and Webster’s High, in Kirriemuir.

They learned about scriptwriting; camera and sound techniques; interviewing and digital editing. Training was provided by Aberdeenshire Media Unit and funding came from the Cairngorms National Park Authority.

The pupils used their new skills to produce films focusing on how plans for the national park relate to their local environment, landscape, traditions and community. The 15-minute productions were shown on Saturday in Abernethy, Perthshire.
