The Government has published the results of its consultation over the proposed re-organisation of 16-19 education.

The new arrangements to allow learning and skills councils to propose improvements to 16-19 courses have won general support. But the LSCs’ lack of experience, accountability and local knowledge worries some of the organisations that responded to the consultation.

A narrow majority were also against the proposal to allow 11-16 schools to open sixth forms. Opposition came mostly from the FE sector. See www.dfes.gov.ukconsultations
