The organisers of the Government’s scheme to subsidise computers for teachers say demand is buoyant, with 16,000 application packs sent out in the month since the scheme was launched.

If all the applications are returned and approved, up to pound;8 million of the pound;20m subsidy fund will be committed, according to the Briish Educational Communications and Technology Agency, the Government agency running the scheme.

The new guidelines posted on the Government’s National Grid for Learning now, belatedly, warn that the grants will be subject to income tax and value-added tax, as first revealed in The TES.
