We should never have done away with O levels in the first place. They should be brought back in their full academic rigour without the non-stop pressure of coursework and without CSEs; a qualification open to everyone becomes meaningless.
While agreeing with headmasters is contrary to my principles, my first one observed at my first speech day that he did not see how an exam could cater for both the semi-literate and potential honours graduates.
