We have still to hear of the Scots school which has the good sense to encourage its female teachers to wear trousers on the premises. The practical advantages of trouser suits are ignored in the infant room.
We have noticed, however, an increasing tendency for teachers attending courses to assert their emancipation from school by turning up in their most elegant trouser outfits - though here the secondary women seem considerably less adventurous than their primary colleagues.
