Fifth and sixth-year pupils in Glasgow are to be banned from attending, during school hours, a lecture, "Conflict in Ulster - what are the right questions?" to be given by Professor Richard Rose, of Strathclyde University, for the Workers' Educational Association. Dr Daniel Docherty, education committee convener, said: "To have this type of title for a lecture in this part of the country is most untimely."
