30 up

So it's farewell then Allan Gilchrist, retiring from Highland after 24 years in the directorate.

The council reserved a special treat, arranging for him to open a Pounds 900,000 primary school at Croy, near Inverness. Apparently, it is the 30th new school project to which he has been midwife during his managerial years.

And here's another funny thing. Murdo Mackinnon, the head at Croy, was with the future director while they were training at Jordanhill. Not only that, Gilchrist used to be head at Cawdor primary, near his home, only three miles from Croy. Nice to have a reminder of your good works on your doorstep.
