PARENTS and old boys of Douai School, the Roman Catholic co-educational boarding school in Berkshire, have saved it from closure by raising pound;700,000 in two weeks. The Benedictine monks of Douai Abbey, with which the school has been associated for nearly 400 years, had said that they could no longer afford to fund it. Now the school will be run by a trust, but will retain the ethos of a Benedictine school.
