Rachel Culloty, aged 10, attends Peterborough High School.
Rachel says that she’s told John she has written about him and she hopes that one day he will live in a house in her garden. She loves ballet and has already auditioned for the Royal Ballet School and will try again when she is 11. She likes JK Rowling but is also a fan of Jacqueline Wilson and Michael Rosen and was delighted to meet them at the Write Away presentation ceremony at the Globe last summer. She is writing a complicated email story with her cousin, called Crisis in Canada.
Rachel’s teacher, Anne Harvey, runs a lunch-time writing club and uses Write Away materials throughout the year. She thought Rachel’s piece was moving and gave an insight into her relationship with her brother. It was one of two or three pieces which “sent a shiver down the spine”.
