Academics and teachers in disharmony

Francis Gilbert calls for a conversation between schools and universities. But will everyday language and academic jargon get to the heart of today’s problems? What counts as “a healthy mixture”? Healthy for whom, and for how long? My partner and I recently attended a colloquium at Lancaster University Management School, celebrating 30 years of using a systems-based methodology to structure research into hazy organisational issues. Perhaps the protagonists in Mr Gilbert’s milieu should arrange a conversation with Lancaster’s team as part of their review.
