The National Grammar Schools Association (NGSA) has warned governors and headteachers to be “extremely cautious” if they are considering converting to academy status. The association said there may be “covert dangers”, including changes to schools’ rights to select their pupils. NGSA chairman Robert McCartney said people running academy trusts could decide to change admissions procedures without consulting parents.
