The City of London academy has joined the Tate Modern as winner of the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award. The academy (pictured below) was praised at the awards ceremony for its “light and airy” design. John Sorrell, chairman of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, claimed that academies were better designed than new schools because of the extra time and money available.
