ACCESS courses are succeeding in bringing students from ethnic minorities and deprived backgrounds into higher education, with teacher training one of the biggest beneficiaries, new figures from the Quality Assurance Agency, the Government’s higher education inspectorate, show.

A second study by the Teacher Training Agency, finds that ethnic-minority teaching students are highly motivated and likely to opt for shortage subjects.
