I was delighted to see some of the Treetops titles I have written reviewed (“Growing forest of titles”, TES May 1)), but I have to point out that Shelley Holmes is not the author of Shelley Holmes Ace Detective - I am. As a writer I do find myself closely identifying with my characters and I flatter myself that they do become well-rounded and realistic personages, but to date they have never leapt from the page and actually written the book for me!
