I WRITE on behalf of the West Indian Standing Conference to express our deep concern about the exclusion of black pupils from schools (TES, December11).
When the present Government took over, WISC had high hopes that this matter would be seriously addressed. Unfortunately, we have seen nothing coming out of the plethora of initiatives that seeks to deal specifically with this problem. We are beginning to despair that anything of significance will happen unless the black community takes the matter in its own hands.
To this end WISC will co-ordinate a series of meetings aimed at getting positive action taken. Anyone interested should contact me: Winston Best Education officer West Indian Standing Conference 5 Westminster Bridge Road London SE1
