Adding to the sum of human misery

Could I add to Clive Delmonte’s list of causers of hatred of religion (TES Letters, August 17). What about Marxism, as exemplified by Stalin’s Russia, and Fascism, as exemplified by Hitler’s Germany? Surely each of these deserves to be included. Were these not mentioned because they are atheistic systems, inspired by Marx and Nietzsche respectively?

Surely their contribution to the “sum total of human misery” needs to be weighed as well. Do we, in consequence, also need to guard against non-religious schools?
