This festival of events celebrates cultures across Africa and the diaspora. Exhibitions include: Africa Remix: Contemporary Art of a Continent, at the Hayward Gallery, South Bank, London SE1 until April 17, and a display of photographs, Africa in Focus, at Hackney Museum, London E8 until April 16. Accompanying talks include: “Made in Africa - Tradition and Modernity in African Art” by John Picton, professor of African art, School of Oriental and African Studies, March 17, 6.30-8pm; and “Africa in Focus” by Gus Casely Hayford, Africa 05 programme director, April 14, 6.30-8pm.

Alternatively, enjoy an exhibition of eye-catching West African textiles at the Horniman Museum, Forest Hill, London SE23, March 18-October 31, which includes adire dyed textiles from Nigeria and photographs of African costumes. Free admission.
