Are the nation’s children becoming unfit and unhealthy due to a lack of sports opportunities in schools? Even after school they are more often to be found watching television and playing computer games than kicking a football about. One solution is to set up and run out-of-school sports clubs and tournaments for primary pupils.

A free information pack, “The Happy Banana Club”, contains teachers’ notes on how to organise a club, activity worksheets, useful contact numbers and a colour booklet for pupils featuring tennis player Tim Henman and his tips and recipes for “fit bananas”. Send an A4 SAE for 83p to: The Happy Banana Club, The Banana Group, Althorp Studios, 4 Althorp Road, London SW17 7ED, tel: 0181 682 3894.
