HELEN Webster and Angela Milroy (“We cannot opt out of chaos and inequality”, TES, July 10) write that by helping parents to win ballots, they “prevented most local education authorities from being taken over by the quango, the Funding Agency for Schools”.
For more than four years I have been the chief executive of the funding agency. It has never “taken over” any organisation. It is not within its remit even to consider such an action.
