The Boeing 737 at Chichester College is well and truly grounded but the students inside are preparing for take-off with careers in aviation. The forward section of the jet airliner has a new home at the college - taking pride of place on its “apron area” outside the travel and tourism centre of vocational excellence. The Cove also includes a teaching area, a travel technology suite and a departure lounge.
The plane finished its working life with Air Mediterranee, based in Toulouse, where it was located for the college by a salvage company.
The college will be producing new recruits for the travel business complete with level 2 (GCSE-equivalent) certificates in customer service and a new passenger service qualification.
