CLOSED-circuit cameras are to be installed in classrooms in Manchester to crack down on misbehaviour by pupils. Mick Walters, Manchester’s chief education officer, is in talks with the Department for Education and Skills about putting the cameras into five schools by Easter. The TES revealed in September 2002 that a primary teacher in East Anglia had been allowed to put a CCTV camera in his classroom after he was falsely accused of hitting a pupil at a previous school.
