The sins of teachers will always be found out, as David Alexander discovered on the same BBC programme. Strathclyde’s senior depute director of education was confronted by Sandra Grieve, leading light of the Scottish Liberal Democrats and a former pupil.
“David Alexander struggled to teach me geography,” she informed the audience, but added charitably: “He failed probably because I was a bad geographer not because he was a bad teacher.” Ms Grieve can presumably pass on tips about pupil motivation to her husband - a geography teacher.
