Claire Droney has been working with people with autism since 2004. First, as a special class teacher and then as an advisory teacher for children with autism in mainstream schools.

In this video, we look at Social Communication, one of the key areas used to diagnose autism.

We explore:

  • Why students with autism can clam up in stressful situations, choosing to say learned phrases instead
  • Why autistic students can take everything literally
  • Why eye contact can be too intense for students with autism, and a handy tip for faking it

This is the second video in the series, be sure to watch the rest.
