I should like to correct one error in Douglas Blane’s otherwise very welcome article about Glasgow Zoo’s former education service (TESS, July 25). The article suggested that because of the zoo’s impending closure, some animals are “being destroyed”.
On the contrary, it is likely that all the animals will be found new homes.
Sadly one Asiatic black bear, Bongo, who is in poor health, has recently been put down on veterinary advice, but this is unconnected with the zoo’s closure.
