All is well at the GTCW

Although mislaying sensitive information is never good news, I was disappointed by your treatment of a story regarding the loss of a memory stick by a General Teaching Council for Wales staff member (TES Cymru, 26 August).

If anything, the story illustrates two positive points: firstly, the device was encrypted to the highest level so no data was compromised; secondly, we were completely transparent in divulging the loss.

We were not "forced" by anyone to tighten our security measures, but instead chose to strengthen our already robust procedures.
