Although mislaying sensitive information is never good news, I was disappointed by your treatment of a story regarding the loss of a memory stick by a General Teaching Council for Wales staff member (TES Cymru, 26 August).
If anything, the story illustrates two positive points: firstly, the device was encrypted to the highest level so no data was compromised; secondly, we were completely transparent in divulging the loss.
We were not “forced” by anyone to tighten our security measures, but instead chose to strengthen our already robust procedures.
Gary Brace, Chief executive, General Teaching Council for Wales.
