Airdrie-based AC Raptors have been awarded a pound;5,000 grant from North Lanarkshire Social Inclusion Partnership to develop flag football, the non-contact version of American football, in the area. The money will be used to fund coaching sessions in North Lanarkshire primary schools. There are also plans for a flag football day, involving teams from across the area, at the end of the year.

The club was founded in November 2002 and currently has 44 registered players aged seven to 47.
