More than 1,000 people have petitioned the Prime Minister to halt an exam board's decision to scrap ancient history A-level. As The TES revealed three weeks ago, OCR wants to subsume its ancient history course into classical civilisation. Friends of the Classics, a charity, has 1,322 signatures for a petition on the Downing Street website. OCR has now agreed to meet the Joint Association of Classical Teachers next week to discuss its decision, which has yet to be ratified by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.
