Plans to raise the age for leaving compulsory education are causing anger and resentment among some teenagers, who believe they will be confined to a classroom studying subjects they are not interested in, says research by the Youth Commission. A third of teenagers are against staying in education until the age of 18. But 58 per cent of young people supported the new policy.
