The University of West London’s faculty of education plans to celebrate its half century in 1997 with a commemorative event and a special issue of its in-house journal, Redland Papers, to contain researched articles on such topics as curriculum development in teacher education, and the political and educational context of the faculty’s historical development. St Andrew’s School, Bedford, is celebrating its centenary with a variety of events and the setting up of a fund for a centenary playground and garden and to help Save the Children.

The programme includes: a charity balloon race on September 3, a fete on October 12 on the theme “through the ages”, and an Old Girls Association reunion weekend on May 4, 1997. Details: 01234 267272.

The Smallpeice Trust is celebrating 30 years as a national independent engineering charity and would like students who attended an ST engineering training course or Design and Make project before 1991 to ring 01926 336423. The Trust wants to include engineering contributions made to industry and society by its alumni in its newsletter to show young aspiring engineers what can be achieved.
