Another pound;22m for security

Ministers are continuing to bolster school safety, with another pound;22 million package of support from next April.

Closed-circuit television cameras, security training for teachers, new fencing, and telephone-entry systems are among the measures so far taken. More than 9,000schools received help last year. One cut its pound;7,000 annual glazing bill to zero, by installing CCTV. The Government has committed pound;22m a year to improving security since 199798, following recommendations made after the murder of London head Philip Lawrence in 1995.
