Anyone for golf?

I returned from my daily round of golf to see your article “Revitalised by tee breaks”(TES, August 6) .

I, too, like to play golf and the summer break allows me to. After 192 or more days at school, it is indeed a time for relaxation and revitalising ourselves ready for the new academic year.

But during the working week it is not so easy to play golf. Are there any other teachers who play a round of golf to relax and socialise? In the world of business discussions often take place on the golf course. So how about staff training days including a round of golf, finished off with a meal? Such events might help to raise money for much-needed books and equipment for our schools.

I hope that there are some like-minded teachers who want to continue during term with a hobby that can help reduce stress.

I would appreciate ideas and suggestions about how to get golf off the ground among teachers and in schools.
