AoC’s balancing act

The Association of Colleges (AoC) has secured the former Learning and Skills Council’s procurement team to help colleges balance their books in the face of cuts.

The team will help the AoC identify and deliver improvements in procurement practice and give advice on how groups of colleges can collaborate to take advantage of shared services and bulk buying. Ray Poxon, AoC’s new senior FE procurement manager, said: “The task colleges face requires a delicate balance between the need to think commercially while retaining the public service ethos that has, historically, served them so well.”
