A HEAD who escaped jail after admitting sexually assaulting pupils walked free for a second time this week when the Appeal Court rejected a plea that his original sentence was too lenient.

Judges held that the 18-month suspended sentence handed out to Robin Peverett, former head of Dulwich Prepaatory School, Cranbrook, Kent, could not now be challenged because prosecuting counsel was actively involved in the “plea bargaining” which led to his pleading guilty.

Peverett, who had initially denied indecent assault, only pleaded guilty on the basis that he would not go to prison.
