Janet Taylor, the red-haired, bespectacled bursar of Queen Elizabeth grammar in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, cuts an alarming figure as she strides along the school corridors.

She is a dead-ringer for Anne Robinson, the hard woman of television, and is even registered with a London agency as her professional double.

Ms Taylor, who is the same age and height as the The Weakest Link presenter, is in demand from supermarkets and high-street stores for everything from openings to advertisements.

She has done her own version of the quiz for charity. “You have to be very careful not to say the words ‘Weakest Link’ because of copyright restrictions. So I call it ‘The Sneakest Wink’.

“We did a big show at school for a cancer charity. The staff agreed to be contestants and the pupils made up the “put-you-downs”.

“I had to be very careful, though, because I know more about the staff than the students and it would have been easy to offend someone.

“The funniest thing is when new parents see you for the first time. They nudge each other and whisper ‘Is that her?’ ”
