KS 12
Using your classroom and playground, ask children how many different materials they can count. Ask them to make drawings and rubbings of two materials, such as bricks and wired glass. As a class, make a collage of these, then, with examples of real and representative materials, such as foil for steel or polythene for glass, make a materials mural. Ask pupils to make a peg doll representing themselves and, using a shoe box as a base, make their doll a house. Encourage them to think about the inside and outside of the house.
