The prizewinning artwork by a pupil from St Thomas of Aquin’s High in Edinburgh has gone on display in a city restaurant.

Sixth-year pupil Andy Jack (pictured) won a competition open to his school and George Heriot’s School, in which young artists took inspiration from Edinburgh landmarks.

The 17-year-old’s rendering of the city skyline by night can be seen at the Thyme restaurant in the Premier Inn Central, whose staff judged the entries. After a year, it will be auctioned for Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

Natasha Kwok, an S6 pupil from George Heriot’s School, was runner-up with a colourful drawing of Edinburgh landmarks, including the castle and Greyfriars Bobby. She and Andy won prizes of shopping vouchers.
