To the South Pole

On 17 January 1912, Captain Robert Scott and his party became the second group of people ever to reach the South Pole; the first was led by a Norwegian, Roald Amundsen, and had arrived 34 days earlier. Scott and his companions never made it back to Britain, dying from starvation and exposure on the return journey.

Try EwanCruz’s PowerPoint to retell Scott’s tragic tale. It includes facts about Antarctica, the explorer’s story, images and a video clip to bring the journey to life.
