Assembly of the week

Charles Dickens’ birthday

Celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens, the author who gave us Oliver Twist and Great Expectations, on 7 February.

Find out what drove him to write about the Victorian poor and push for social reform. Discover how he was sent to work in a factory at the age of 12 and was later employed as a reporter.

Lilybabe’s assembly PowerPoint is packed with images and information about his life and times. Why not conclude by asking pupils what they could do to mark this day?
