CoPS Baseline, the fully computerised pupil assessment scheme developed by the University of Hull, has now been formally accredited for use in schools by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. Currently under trial in 700 schools nationally, the updated system includes four modules to assess: communication, literacy, mathematics and personal and social development in four and five-year-olds. Further details on CoPS, which is capable of administering groups of tests in less than 20 minutes per child, are available from Jim Dumsday, University of Hull, Hull HU6 7RX. Tel: 01482 466236.
