I believe in a secular educational system. All public funding of state schools, including faith ones, should be conditional on a non- sectarian admissions policy of admitting whichever applicants live nearest and none living more than five miles away (“A bridge across the River Foyle”, TES Magazine, 8 July).
Leaving this aside, if wearing a particular school uniform makes pupils targets for abuse or assault, doesn’t that present a powerful argument in favour of abolishing them?
