The respected Schools Curriculum Award scheme, launched 15 years ago, has been given a new lease of life following the promise of funding from the DFEE and the Association of Education Committees Trust.
The future of the awards, given to schools that show awareness of their place in their communities, was in doubt after its two biggest sponsors, the Society of Education Officers and the Association of Directors of Education in Scotland, told trustees they could not guarantee support for a fifth round.
Now the biennial award, co-founded by Education magazine and the SEO, which has benefited more than 1,000 schools, will receive Pounds 10,000 from the DFEE, and Pounds 20,000 from the AEC.
