MOTOROLA YOUTH PARLIAMENT COMPETITION

St Michael’s RC school in Billingham, Cleveland, came top in this national competition run by the Citizenship Foundation, for its video of a mock Parliamentary debate on whether the BBC should carry advertising and sponsorship. The National Dairy Council’s primary schools video, The Dairy Channel, has been awarded a Bronze IVC award and was also nominated for best script. The video, which explains the role of milk and dairy products in a balanced diet in an entertaining way, costs pound;5 from 0171 499 7822.

WE ARE DIFFERENT...WE ARE EQUAL

This competition run by East London Teachers Association for Tower Hamlets schools invited visual, literary or performance work entries on the above theme and was held in memory of Blair Peach, the Tower Hamlets teacher killed 20 years ago on an anti-racist demonstration. The prize for best art work was won by students from Phoenix School, where Blair Peach taught. Details: 0181 981 9377.
